Bengal Contemporary, an artists’ group of Bengal presents exhibits at Santiniketan Society of visual art & design, Sonajhurypalli, Santiniketan, West Bengal, India which is situated nearest to Tagore’s famous Viswabharati University. Under a strong leadership and personality of eminent artist Jogen Chowdhury, all creative personalities and faculty members (art) of Viswabharati created this cultural hub, SSVAD for upholding the recent trends, contemporary art practice and research by the upcoming & aged artists or creative people from different parts of India and other countries.

Hopefully, Bengal Contemporary has a chance to organize a group show here that presents the works of few mid aged painters those who are passionately engaged in the art practice in different media during a long period, about three decades from their early start-up in eighty’s. They are Prabal. C. Boral, Naba Kr Chakraborty (group members), Aloke Sardar, Chayan Roy, Nilotpal Sinha and Malay Chandan Saha (invited) mostly exhibited their works in major group shows in private galleries, annual exhibitions of AFA (Academy of fine arts, Kolkata), BAAC (Birla Academy of Art & Culture, Kolkata), National shows or self-organized group shows, also participated in major art camps/workshops organized by the private entrepreneurship in various places of India.

These six contemporary painters have a distinctive features to build a paradigm for formal language with a strong imagination or narrative style that differs in perception from each other allowing a tendency of different modernist approach to post modern attitude sometimes that generates playfully with ink, ink & wash on papers, acrylic on paper or canvas or with the help of directly interference by the hi-end technological resources. The members of the Bengal contemporary and the invited participants are well concerned to their efforts in search of a new language.

This exhibition will stay open from 15th to 21st Dec’13, 11 am – 7 pm. You are cordially requested to visit the show on or after 15th Dec’13 if you would like to stay in Santiniketan for any reason in that period, the Bengal Contemporary will be awaiting for your presence for opening this exhibition on the day of Dec 2013 .
